About presentation:
All too often, internal communication strategies of U.S.-based multinationals address their counterparts outside the U.S. as an afterthought. Benefits, compensation, performance management, business strategies, and other important internal messages are passed along in English — in hopes they will be translated locally. But communicating globally takes more than accurate, idiomatic translation. To build a truly global organization, internal communication needs to take into account the language, regulatory environment, technology, and even the cultural norms of audiences in other parts of the world in order to create a consistent, central message that works in the context of local reality. Jane Lump, a vice president in Aon Consulting's Communication Consulting Group, will give us her insights into how to make that happen.

About your presenter:
Jane Lump has over 20 years experience consulting to some of the largest and most respected companies in the world, and uses a research-based approach to determine the needs and concerns of various stakeholders when helping clients develop broad-based communication strategies. Jane has worked with large, Fortune 50 companies to engage their global workforce around benefits and compensation messages and with midsized companies who are just reaching out to embrace their global counterparts and help them understand the core business strategy. Before joining Aon, Jane was the founder and lead consultant at Strategic Innovation and also worked as a senior communication consultant and practice leader at a major global HR consulting firm. She holds a B.S. in Education from Ball State University and an M.A. from Purdue University, where she has completed all but her dissertation toward a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition.
